Robert de Frece, Musical Director

Robert de Frece is Professor of Music and Music Education in the Faculties of Education and Arts at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Dr. de Frece directed choirs at Archbishop Jordan High School in Sherwood Park, Alberta for nine years and was co-founder of Sherwood Park's John Hugh MacDonald Singers and the University of Alberta Faculty of Education Youth Choirs. In addition to his work with Greenwood Singers, Dr. de Frece is musical director of the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus and the University of Alberta Faculty of Education Handbell Ringers.

Dr. de Frece served for two years on the National Board of Directors of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors and is a past president of the Alberta Choral Federation. He is the author of Canada: Its Music and the Music and You Canadian Supplement and is a co-author of the McGraw-Hill basal music series, Share the Music. His books of compositions and choral arrangement, Singing Round the Year and Hooray for Singing, are used in schools throughout North America. He has also co-written two children's musicals with Calgary music teacher, Sue Harvie: Mi-Re-Do-The Game Show and Brought to You By?.

Dr. de Frece has presented music education workshops throughout Canada and the United States and has established a wide reputation as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator.
